The case focuses on violations arising from the forcible removal of Sudanese nationals who were holding a protest at Mustafa Mahmoud Park in Cairo. The complaint alleges violations of the right to life, freedom from inhuman and degrading treatment and freedom from discrimination, and the right to assembly. It also looks at the use of excessive and disproportionate use of force by riot police against unarmed civilians.

This case is at the admissibility stage before the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
