INTERIGHTS
The International Centre for the Legal Protection of Human Right
s

WHO WE ARE

INTERIGHTS is an international legal centre which develops and promotes the legal protection of human rights worldwide. Set up as a charity in 1982, for 21 years we have been working hard to legally protect human rights, and have become a highly respected and far-reaching organisation in the global human rights field.

OUR GOALS

TO develop and sustain legal protection for human rights and freedoms worldwide.

TO fully realise and exploit all legal avenues available to protect these rights.

TO provide greater global access to information on judicial decisions concerning human rights.

WHAT WE DO

WE help lawyers, judges, victims and other non-governmental organisations to prepare cases before regional, national and international courts.

WE submit friend of the court briefs in cases that raise important issues on how human rights are interpreted.

WE provide valuable training for lawyers and judges to teach them more about using international human rights law.

WE advise regional institutions on appropriate administrative and judicial systems.

WE publish legal resources on- and offline so as many people as possible have access to information on developments in human rights law.

WE represent victims before regional and international courts.

We hold consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the Council of Europe and the African Commission for Human and Peoples Rights, and are authorised to present collective complaints under the European Social Charter.

A registered charity, we are dependent on grants from foundations and on donations from individuals.
